God’s Nourishment
“Dear friend, I pray that you may enjoy good health and that all may go well with you, even as your soul is getting along well.” (3 John 1:2 [Life Application Study Bible])
The apostle John was writing to his good friend and fellow believer, Gaius, who lived in the city of Ephesus. John was concerned for both the physical and spiritual well-being of Gaius.
Just like people during the apostle John’s time, people today often separate physical health from spiritual health. Yet, God is concerned about both.
Our spiritual health is the core of our beliefs and from them we base our decisions. However, God reminds us that we are not to neglect or overindulge our physical desires and well-being. (1 Corinthians 6:19-20)

Quips & Tips
Hydration, many people believe that only water counts as hydration. While water is generally the best source of hydration and fluid for the body it is not our only option.
Any food source that is liquid at room temperature is considered a fluid. That means, popsicles, gelatins, brothy soups, milks, and even fruits with a high water content such as watermelon contribute to our overall hydration status.
Did you know our urine is a good indicator of our hydration? It sure it! This handy chart is a great tool to teach children hydration status:

Family Nutrition Tip
Try to incorporate more meals at home this summer. Slow down, step back, don’t over commit. Instead, really tuck into old fashion family time.
Research has shown that families who eat at least three home cooked meals a week together have lower rates of teenagers experimenting with drugs and alcohol, reduced rates of teen pregnancies, reduced rates of childhood obesity, and fewer trips to local fast-food restaurants.
